FAQs

Are members always on tour or do they  have homes?

Our members come from a variety of towns and cities across the UK. They all have homes and enjoy camping as a hobby.

How much does it cost to join NHCC?

Just £15 per year. Membership runs from Nov 1st to Oct 31st the following year.

How do I join?

Go to the Join Today page Click Here.

What does my £15 membership fee give me?

As a full member of New Horizons Camping Club you join 200+ other members, you access our Programme, can join any of our Meets, Tours and Winter Lunches, you have access to the members private Website, Facebook pages and the private Members Directory showing which members live locally.

What camp sites do you use?

Most meets in the UK use either Caravan & Camping Club (CCC) Sites or Caravan & Motorhome Club (CMC) Sites. Some meets use private/ commercial sites.

Do I have to join these camping clubs too?

You do not have to join these other clubs but members of those clubs get discounts on site fees, so it might be 'profitable' to do so.

Who books the campsites I use for a meet or tour?

Members need to book their pitch on the campsites they plan to visit themselves. Note: Some sites fill up quickly - especially during school holidays, so sooner is better than later. (you can initially pay just a deposit).

What facilities can I expect at campsites?

Different sites will have different facilities but in general you can expect fresh water and both grey waste and chemical disposal facilities plus toilet and shower blocks at CCC and CMC sites. Most  also offer electric hook ups with some having Calor gas cylinder exchanges and site shops selling basic requirements.

Do I have to stay for the whole of a Meet ?

No. Members are always very welcome to 'dip in and out' of Meets and Tours as their personal calendar allows, joining after a meet has begun and/or leaving before it ends. You will be assured a warm welcome whenever you join a meet.

What do members do during the meets?

That is entirely up to the members attending. Some wish to just enjoy the getaway and chill; some like to visit local attractions, some enjoy walking or cycling; the more active and adventurous may take up a locally available challenge. A pub lunch or evening meal is also often a feature at some time during a meet. Decisions as to what members do each day is made at one of the daily get togethers.

Am I expected to join in all the activities during a meet?

No. What you do during your stay on a meet is entirely up to you. You can join some, all or none of the daily activities but you will be assured of company if  & when you want it from other members.

Do I have to pay extra to join a meet or a tour?

There are no extra costs payable to New Horizons once you have paid your annual subscription. You will, of course be responsible for your own transport, site fees, food and entertainment when on meets.

What if I don't know anyone on the meet?

We have all been there once! Fear not, you will be given a very warm welcome at your first meet and help will often be at hand from more experienced members.

Do I have to join Facebook and Whatsapp?

No, but since both are free to join and their content totally private to NHCC Members, you may benefit greatly from doing so. The same applies to Whatapp.

I am not very IT capable! These things worry me!

There are lots of us who need a little helping hand with modern IT services but help will always be at hand from more experienced members to get things working and secure if you ask.

What if I can't go to a meet at the last minute?

You should let the NHCC Contact for the Meet know and also let the campsite know as soon as possible - to see if you can recover your payments to them.

Where are the Winter lunches advertised?

All Meets, Tours and Winter Lunches are available on the members Area Website and on the Members Facebook pages.

Can I attend a Meet or a Winter Lunch before joining?

Unfortunately all our events are uniquely for members, so that is a "no, sorry".
